Asphalt Paving
Paving over a base we built ourselves.
Asphalt pavingOchoa Grading & Paving is a grading contractor in Anaheim, licensed in Class C-12 Earthwork and Paving (CSLB Lic. #1153314). We do rough and finish grading, excavation, site preparation and drainage for homes and businesses across Orange County and Southern California.
Grading is in our name. Ochoa Grading & Paving prepares sites across Southern California for driveways, parking lots, building pads, hardscape and landscaping. We set the grades, move and compact the soil, and build the base that everything else sits on.
Most asphalt and concrete failures trace back to poor subgrade or base work: soft spots, inadequate compaction or water with nowhere to go. Because we do the grading and the paving, we don't cut corners on the part you can't see. That's how our asphalt and concrete work lasts.
Ponding water, flooding near a foundation, or runoff eroding your property all usually come down to grade. We re-grade surfaces, add swales and valley gutters, and set pavement slopes so water goes where it's supposed to.
We grade residential lots, driveways and backyards as well as commercial parking lots, industrial yards and new construction sites. General contractors and developers can rely on us for grading and paving under one contract.
Anaheim is our home base. We grade flat lots in central and west Anaheim and sloped lots in Anaheim Hills, where drainage and slope stability matter most. Nearby, we also work in Orange, Fullerton, Placentia, Yorba Linda and the rest of Orange County.
Anaheim grading permits: grading permits in Anaheim go through the city's Public Works department. Grading on flat lots follows the city's grading code (Anaheim Municipal Code Chapter 17.04), while lots in a designated hillside area follow the city's separate hillside grading procedures (Chapter 17.06). Work in a public street or sidewalk needs a separate right-of-way permit. Not every small job needs a grading permit, so ask us about your project and we'll explain what's typically required.
The California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) issues the C-12 Earthwork and Paving license to contractors who cut, fill, excavate, grade, trench and backfill, and who place paving and other surfacing materials. That's exactly the work we do. You can check our license, CSLB Lic. #1153314, on the CSLB website.
Every property is different, so we price each job after an on-site look. These are the main things that affect the cost:

Rough grading moves large amounts of soil to set the general shape and elevations of a site. Finish grading is the precise final shaping that sets exact slopes for drainage and prepares the surface for paving, concrete or landscaping.
The asphalt or concrete surface is only as strong as what's under it. Proper grading and compaction prevent settling, cracking and potholes, and the right slope keeps water from pooling and breaking down the pavement.
Often, yes. Grading permits in Anaheim go through Public Works: flat lots follow Municipal Code Chapter 17.04 and designated hillside areas follow Chapter 17.06. Some small jobs are exempt. Other cities and counties have their own rules, and we can explain what your project typically requires.

Yes. Ponding is usually a grade problem. We can re-grade and repave affected areas, or add drainage features like valley gutters and swales to move water off the surface.
